Tere Mere Beech Mein

It was the most anxious moment for all Salman fans and well publicised, when Katrina came down with Neil on 10 Ka Dum show.
A lot of chemistry and cheesy talks were surely expected on show and when
Salman finally said ‘he is really a fool whoever did not proposed you for marriage’
He dared to say that in front of full audience present on set and millions watching the show on TV yet he managed to win a smile with everyone though. And Katrina, she just shrugged it off with her branded cute smile.
Is there anything else that’s missing from our eyes here?

Yes, its two simple and yet powerful things. One is TRP and the other is money.
Salman was very clever to use all his wittiness to make his show as the most watched program on SONY.
Was he successful in doing that..?

Yes, insiders in SONY asked directors of the show to convince Salman for another 25 more episodes as it’s the only watched program on SONY that’s got decent viewers ratings on this day.

Why not Salman would agree for that?
He would happily be ready to do it as long as he is paid heavy pay check.May be he would not even mind removing his shirt once again, just to boost more ratings.
Is it any new thing happening on TV?

Before I say YES, the truth is that there were many game shows on TV before this. And there were many shows that made viewers laugh.

But what’s new then.
It’s
Salman himself. Was he on TV hosting a show last year? It’s a 100% NO
But now we can see him once in a week for 20 minutes. Not just him, but other movie stars along with him too.
Is this enough for us?
No, we want more.
Ok, so here we have BIG B himself hosting the new season of BIS BOSS and he is paid more money for each episode than what you pay to buy an AUDI car.
Is it still not enough?
Then how about ‘
tere mere beech mein
Yes, that’s the new show concept from ‘Idiot Box’ entertainment, another venture from
SRK’s RED CHILLIES and hosted by Farah Khan (who else it could be, if its SRK production house) Wow, a successful movie dance director – turned – movie director, now on TV running a show, that’s aired prime time on Star.
Are we happy with this?
No, we need more, like something different.
Ok, how about a 30 minutes program aired prime time on TV that shows all the Godrej products that every one dreams and wishes for their home. So, here is a new show.
Godrej Khelo Jeeto Jiyo hosted by Soha Ali khan where aam janta will participate and can be lucky to win Godrej products that’s on display in front of their eyes. Not just for contestants, but shown clear and clever to millions who watch the program.
Who is wining here?
It’s defiantly
Godrej.
The plan is very simple. Why
Godrej would pay lakhs of rupees to TV channels to run advertisements of their products in-between serials / programs?
So why not design a show that’s whole and sole about
Godrej products and yet it’s clearly tasty for viewers. Its very easy, put the products on display and make them win.
So, here we have.
Soha Ali khan helping Godrej winning customer’s attention on their products with just 20% cost that’s spent on regular advertisements.
At the end of it all, who is wining here?
Who is paid hefty money and yet gain fame?
Its not just
Salman, Farah or BIG B but it’s also the creative directors, concept designers, Marketing heads and last but not the lost, Celebrities.

Today, if we watch TV set for 3 hours, I get a glimpse of every celebrity, every movie star who’s famous and successful since last few years.
It’s too big for me to name it here, as one actor will show up his / her face on many products. Like
Kareena shows her sexy legs for a waxing cream then teams up with Saif for a digital TV set-up box and also on a shampoo and also……..the list is little big to finish here….

Kajol who acts just 1 movie a year after her marriage and kids, does not mind to endorse more than 3 products for television.
It’s just not her, but every actor who pops up with a Friday release on a big mall near your apartment, is now on
tv selling some product.
Even the ever shy
Anil kapoor now shares a Pen commercial with his daughter. Yeah, it’s also family combo offers now.
With all this, is the ‘customer’ over taken by ‘product’?Yes. That’s true.
Today,
BSNL need Deepika to sell to customers that their service is better in market. Airtel need SRK to make us believe that its network is better connected. And HDFC need cricketers to make us think that we need to plan for life, after retirement.
Almost every product now needs a ‘face’ to sell in market.
Is this something new in advertisement industry?
No, it’s not any new.
I still remember the days when
Preeti flashed her bubbly smile for a chocolate on TV commercial. Then later she moved to movies and made it big. Our very own Jaane Tu star Genelia, who made her debut with BIG B on a pen advert and after so many years with movies down south, she grown up big with Hindi movies. Charming lady Deepika was flashing her mesmerizing smile for toothpaste before she shared the same frame with SRK. And how can we forget SRK himself.
So there were days when good looking girls and handsome guys work days and years to make it big on TV so they get a chance to act in movies Or win the Miss India contest and be lucky to step into movies, as the chosen elite.
But today, we see the same people who act in movies also on TV. Many TV shows are designed and formatted around movie celebrities.
So, is the simple TV now eaten away by mighty movies?
If all the chocolates, scooters, cars, shampoos, hair colours, pens, mobiles, set-up boxes, beauty creams, bikes, chips and then
tv shows are performed by movie starts then what’s left for any new comer to act in.
Its no wonder if a advertisement agency in
Mumbai throws up a vacancy saying ‘need young beautiful girls interested in sanitary napkin commercial on print and television media’.
Sadly, that’s the only piece left
un-used by movie stars.
I wonder when we would be able to see a new
Preeti or Genelia on TV
When ad agencies would would discover a new
Deepika.
Where all the beauty and charm girls of this generation from
Mumbai or Delhi gone today?
Are they busy sharing their personal lives with strangers on Google talk, killing time on Twitter, long-distance-talks on yahoo web cams, increasing fan base on
Facebook?
Or Are they head deep with putting things together for a recession-proof IT career?
No matter what’s this generation is doing today, they are chasing different dreams now; not TV any more.

So its no surprise that
Salman who shared the ‘friends’ cap some 15 years ago in Maine Pyaar Kiya is still in strong place to break into this generation girls dreams.
Even
SRK who said ‘K-K-K-Kiraaan’ to Juhi in 90s is still on today’s TV holding a girls hand (who would be half his age) and says ‘I love i10’……………wow, what’s a dramatic comeback of movies on TV.
Salman may not say ‘tere mere beech mein with Katrina on show but it’s a clear fact that movies say to TV, ‘tere mere beech mein, ab kuch nahi hai
